Doctor Who "Series 8"

Okay, I originally started writing this last year, but with series 9 on the horizan. I guess I should really get around to finishing this, let's cast our minds back to last series.....
~~~~Wibbly wobbly, timey wimey lines ~~~
Okay, it's taken me a few days to write this as I've been a little busy, but while I have a few moments I thought I jot down my thoughts of this series rather than individual episodes....mainly because I've been lazy. I apologise for that. I write down stuff to remember later on, and then completely forget about it once I've done it.
Anyway, by now all of series 8 has aired. While I've loved Capaldi as the new Doctor. I do have major gripes with the series as it is. It's been a bit of a love-hate affair to be honest, and as always.....Spoilers, duh!
Let's start with a Love thing about the new series....Capaldi.
I've not watched much of Peter Capaldi in any other programs (apart from the Torchwood episode, and when he appeared in the Fires of Pompeii episode of David Tennants era of Doctor Who. I really liked him in that those episodes) Anyway, when he was shown to be the new Doctor. I was happy, really happy. I thought "Yes! They'll be less likely to do a love affair with any assistant now!", my second thought was "Wow, he has a really menacing face. Please be a darker doctor, please be a darker doctor!!" He has lived up to my expectations, and more. He still has that silly, quirky side. To me, that's more Doctor-ish.
Now for a hate.....Earth, the only sci-fi setting you'll ever need.
I think the TARDIS should be renamed the "Time and Relative Dimension in London." 4 out of the 12 episodes take place in Outer space. That's right, 8 episodes take place on Earth, and six of those are in london, one in sherwood, and one in Bristol (but they were on their way to London.) Plus One of the four episodes that wasn't in Londo....I meant Earth. Was on the Moon!
I'm not saying this for the sake of saying it, but two of my favourite episodes of this series were two of the episodes set in space. "Mummy on the Orient Express" (it's a space train), and "Time Heist". I mean, don't get me wrong, the Lon....Earth episodes are great. But I'd really like an equal footing of Space travel with Earth travel. Even go to different places around Earth rather than spending every episode in London.
Speaking of something different...bow to your Master!
Female Master. Do like. Remember The Master hasn't always looked like a man. He hasn't always looked human. Plus I really didn't see her coming out as The Master. Although, "Killing her" seems a really lame way of finishing the episode. We know that The Master never stays dead, it's really old hat of dealing with them.
Something that should have died....Clara.
Well, okay. Probably not died, but she's way past her time. One to two series is great time for an assistant. I was being to tire of her half way through this series. Maybe it was her lying to both Danny and The Doctor. It's not Jenna, I think Jenna is a great Actress, but everything runs it's course, and I feel like hers in Doctor Who should be over.
Of course, saying all this. I'm still going to watch Series Nine, and heck, I'll probably enjoy it. Still, there will always be one or two little bits that could do with Tweeking. However, I must say, without a doubt. Capaldi, is probably, my Doctor. (And I've always had a hard time choosing a favourite Doctor.)
Doctor Who. "Deep Breath"
Firstly a warning. Yes, spoilers from here on out. I don't like to spoil stuff for other people, but I do warn as I know there are still some people out there that don't like spoilers.
Right. Let's just make one thing clear, these are all my opinions. They may differ from your opinions. Don't like my opinions, then please be polite as possible.
I really liked this episode. But before we even get to the episode, let me just say "Wow, wah, wee, wah!" to the opening credits. Clocks, Gears, Time, and Capaldi's Eyes!! While the theme song seems a bit off, I can't really fault the CG style.
Firstly, The Doctor. I honest didn't expect much of his personality coming through on this one. He's just regenerated, his mind is still regenerating. It's always gonna take a while before we see the True 12th Doctor to appear, and I think he did towards the end of the episode. Scottish (possibly from influence still from Amy, since he does mention her in the episode), attack eyebrows, old (and he recognizes the face, not sure if that episode of Fires of Pompeii is a hint for a future story, but we'll see.) He also goes through a lot of mannerisms from past Doctors (again, possibly due to the regeneration effect in his mind.).
However, I do love the fact he's got this even darker side. Although, I hope they don't get rid of his slightly comedic side (asking for the children's menu.). Hopefully he'll get more a depth look at his character next week.
Right, Clara. The Impossible Girl being nearly all the weird Fanboys, and Fangirls, complaining that the new Doctor is old. I liked this idea, that they used her to get the message of the Doctor being older, and more different. More so using 11th to reassure her that he's not her Boyfriend, and the Doctor isn't there really to have a love interest. And although, that said. Through the episode she discovers that she still knows the Doctor (by having her back when the clockwork man was going to kill her, and getting changed when the Doctor was returning to pick her up.).
I can't say much about the Victorian Trio, as they're always fantastic, and brilliant.
As for the episode it'self, it was pretty good. Okay, it was the clockwork robots stealing peoples organs to rebuild themselves, but I think this series is going to be looking back on a lot of Doctor Who episodes anyway. So we shall see where this over all story arc goes. I liked the Doctor flirting with the Dinosaur, and the interaction with Clara and the Victorian Trio. The Doctor talking to the Tramp seemed pretty dark, but I think that's partly showing off how scary the new Doctor not only looks, but acts. (Although, Attack Eyebrows!! XD ) The ending seemed really well put, and again showing off the more darker side to this new Doctor.
And at the end with the human clockwork man in Paradise. I think the Doctor took his robotic memory, and implanted it into the Tardis (hence the mysterious woman claims to be the Doctor's wife/partner.), or the Doctor took the human clockwork man to that planet Apalapucia that they went to in the episode "The Girl that waited" as I'm sure that garden looked the same one.
Anyway, I had faith in this series and Doctor that it would be a great one. So far, it looks like my trust was well placed. Although, not a great episode, but not a terrible one. 6/10.
Next week, 12 vs Daleks!! Not to be one to miss methinks!
He's a coming!!
So, we're about a month away from the new Doctor's First episode. I have not watched one trailer, and I don't really want to start. It's not because I don't like Peter Capaldi, or don't think the show will survive with an "old Doctor". Far from it, I think he's going to be fantastic, and it'll be great to get away from a Companion/Doctor Romance.
But I don't want to be spoiled by anything. So many trailers (in films, as well as shows) put way too many spoilers into their trailers. Just keep it simple. Look at the first couple of trailers for the 9th, and 10th Doctor's. Heck, even the first trailer I saw for 11th was fantastic. Not too much spoiler, an odd face of what was to come. That's good, but to put clips of the show kind of spoils the show as you'll know exactly what the next words will be, or even (and films do this bit ever too much) the comedic bits!! Thanks for making the joke now not funny, because we'll watch the trailer a bazillion times, and memories it all off by heart.
The thing is it's hard not to keep away from the trailer as it is a big thing. (I think nearly everyone has posted it multiple times on social media sites.) And then we still get it flashed up on TV in ad breaks, although since I'm normally playing video games I don't tend to catch it as much as I use to.
However, even if I don't click on the trailer. People will post, "did you see such and such in the trailer?", I can't wait to see that person again!" or "how they're going to make them come back?". (Except they actually put the name of the person in there.)
Don't get me wrong. I will be glued to the set when it comes on TV. But please hush up on spoilers, not everyone wants to know every second of what will happen. Some of us like to just enjoy the ride, the thrill, and the surprises as they come to us as they're meant to be. Without us trying to second guess it!
Also, don't get me started on the leaked episode scandal!!
I'm awake!
Rebooting systems.....System start.
 It's been a long time since I tried to start this, and I want to blog more. I'm going to blog more!! (Honestly, you can slap me if needs be)
  2. I've travelled to Japan, with my Martial Arts Group to train with Soke Masaaki Hatsumi. Also, I currently hold the title of 3rd Dan in Bujinkan Ninjutsu.
  3. We've witnessed a fantastic "Doctor" from Matt Smith in Doctor Who, and it'll be sad to see him leave at the end of the year (more about that later.)
  4. Great load of films were released.
  5. Great load of video games were released.
And now let's look to the future.
  1. Peter Capaldi is THE DOCTOR! Really looking forward to see what he brings to Doctor Who.
  2. Hopefully will plan another trip to Japan.
  3. Pokemon X/Y are soon to be released, as is Assassins Creed Black Flag! Both look like they'll be amazing!
  4. So many great films from the Hobbit, to Avengers 2!
  5. Playstation 4
